So, what is a paint party?
A paint party, paint night, social painting event, or whatever you've heard it called, is a social outing where you to get together with friends, family or colleagues and create a painting start to finish. An instructor walks you through the process step by step and will be available for extra help or questions the whole way. At the end, you've created a piece of art that you may take home.
Can I do it alone?
Absolutely. You can come by yourself or with friends, partners, children, etc.
Do I need to have experience?
Nope! Absolutely no experience necessary. If you've never heard of painting until today, you are still welcome!
This isn't an academic class, you won't be graded, no one is the winner. This is about exploring creativity, unwinding, and having fun.

Are young children allowed?
Yes. Though for children under 5, we will provide a different painting or coloring activities or smaller canvas easier for little hands and little growing minds. When you buy your tickets, there will be an option for very young children so we'll know ahead of time to have our activity sheets printed and washable paint ready!
At this time, we do not have highchairs for infants, so please take that into account when buying tickets for our events at HAVI.

How do the tickets work?
After purchasing them from our website, your name is added to our Guest List along with the number of tickets purchased. You are not required to bring a receipt or print anything out, just come on the date and time of the event and give your name.
If you purchased tickets for others, they simply need to give us your name as part of your party.

How do private events work?

Every private event is different, and we need to know what you're looking for. Do you want to have your event in our store? In your home? Via zoom? No matter what, we gotta know if we're going to do our best to make it a good time for you and yours.
We do have a minimum guest requirement for private events. Which is at least 8 individuals.
Once the details are worked out, we will invoice you for the amount required.

Yes and no.
That's highly dependent on if there's enough space and equipment. If there's enough room, yes! If not, well, then no. If there is room, we will also charge an additional $5 per person for walking in instead of paying ahead online.
We really recommend you pay ahead and get your spot reserved to avoid being to turned away and to save yourself a little money.
The reason for this is so we know how much equipment we need to have beforehand and how much time and space we need to set up. If we're at a venue, we have to take their capacity, business, and space into consideration. If we just let anyone and everyone walk in, we'd have a mess.

Why don't you offer refunds?
We cannot offer refunds because the payment we receive goes directly into the event and replacing material. We are here for mutual benefit rather than for profit. Everything we get goes back into Scribbles and the community so we can continue offering events and classes.

Do you have a minimum?
We do.
Events in our space at HAVI need at least 3 people. Venue events we host need at least 10. Private events, at least 8 (with some exceptions).

In that situation, we will cancel the event 2 days before. Or, reschedule to a later time.

Do you supply food and drink?
We do not supply food. Prepacked snacks, water, soda, and juice may be available at our venue at HAVI. We do not supply food or beverages otherwise. The host would be responsible for providing for their guests at private events and any other venue would have food or drink available for purchase.
We can do BYOB events, and can provide corkage service at additional cost.

What should I wear?
While we do have aprons available, we do recommend you bring something you won't mind ruining if the worst happens. While the paints we provide for young children are washable, we can't guarantee any stain will come out.
What's included in the price of the ticket?
Everything you need. Art or craft supplies, canvases, paint, palettes, easels, aprons brushes, and water cups. You get 2 to 4 hours of instruction for you and/or your guests from one of our professional artists, clean up and set up provided by us.
For private events you can choose from our gallery of work and we'll teach what you want, or we can design a custom piece for you.

How far are you willing to travel?
At this time, we are willing to travel up to an hour away from our location in Apple Valley. This covers the High Desert gateway area of Victorville, Hesperia, Apple Valley, and Oak Hills. As well as, Adelanto, Phelan, Barstow, Yermo, Big Bear City, Wrightwood, San Bernardino, Highland, Rancho Cucamonga and Loma Linda.
We will consider further on a case by case basis but may add an additional fee based on the extra miles necessary for travel.

How do fundraisers work?
Fundraisers start at $45 a person, $15 of each seat will be donated to your cause. Everything else comes on a case by case basis. We can work with you and other venues.

How do children's parties/craft events work?
The same as any event, but we do require at least 1 adult (besides us!) be present at all times!
We can help you pick a simpler design to paint for youngsters. For a fee, we can also put together goody bags for each child.

Can you design a custom painting for my event?
We sure can.
For a one time fee of $100 we can design a special painting just for your event that we will never use again.

Will you take photos? May I take photos?

We love taking pictures and you of course are welcome to document your creative process!

Figure Drawing Frequently Asked Questions
Is life drawing free?
No. Seating is limited and you must reserve your space. The fee not only reserves your space, but helps us pay for the model's time.
Can anyone attend life drawing?
Almost anyone.

I'm under 18, why can't I attend life drawing even with a draped model?
Unfortunately, we cannot allow minors into the life drawing classes simply because there are just too many hurdles.
Every minor would need a parent or guardian for instance.
While a draped model is definitely safe for anyone to see, we still owe our model as much respect and privacy as we can offer. No judgement on every individual teenager, but on the whole, we feel we can offer our models a safer environment with only adults around.

What is provided for the cost?
A space to draw in and someone to draw. We may have extra supplies, but we cannot guarantee any particular supplies like charcoal, pencils, or board at this time. But we hope to be able to provide these things in the future.
Is this nude drawing or draped models?
That depends on the day and on the model. We cannot guarantee which models we will get on any given day or their comfort level. We will however encourage fun and creative outfits!
What rules are there?

- No inappropriate comments or behavior.
- No invading the model's space.
- No spectators. The model is here to work and so are we.
If you cannot follow these rules, you will be asked to leave. You will not be allowed back. You will not receive a refund.
It may sound harsh, but it is our job to protect our model's dignity and privacy.
