It's hard to believe. We just celebrated our 4 year anniversary at the inn and we've been really ramping up events only to be blindsided by our tenancy being ended. We really wish we could afford the whole building, it's actually very affordable. But... not for us. We just don't have the funds at this time. While we definitely want to open up the collective, make a bigger coalition to uplift everyone through mutual effort, we also want to do it right, and we just didn't have the time before this all happened to have a bunch of people adding to the pot. It's something we're still working toward. We're not going to give up. We know, because we've talked to so many of you, how many amazing creatives there are out here. We've seen your work, your original characters, your paintings, tattoos, drawings, comics, novels, sculptures, and costumes. We still want to make that space for all of you. And we will keep trying. Currently, what's happened as detailed in the graphics below, is the building we're in, which has been empty save for us for a little over a year if memory serves, has fallen into such disrepair it must be repaired. Which means, they need us out to do so safely and with efficacy. But, we are not welcome to return to our unit as the inn's owner is no longer interested in leasing out the units individually as it isn't as profitable. We'd need to lease the whole building. About $2000 a month and a new contract and deposit. And we just don't have it. We'll be breaking down our garden (the biggest tragedy in all this) and our little library. We'll do one last hurrah in our last month (September) as we break things down, with sales and giveaways before we say goodbye to the unit we put so much time and love into.

A little bit of a somber take with 2024 being a difficult year, but with the ho[e and motivation to continue our journey and eking out an existence in the High Desert's Victor Valley. Give it a read here! This was however published after a big change to out little studio space. Jacob has decided to leave the collective, though he still remains our supporter and you will still find him at some of the paint nights as an instructor. We wish him the best on his artistic and professional journey, wherever it takes him! Two of us at Scribbles are featured in this exhibit in Apple Valley, Ca.
We're always proud of each other here and do our best to raise each other up! And that goes for our other local artists as well! We're all so different with different backgrounds, drives, and goals. It's a cool way to get to know us a little better! Click the image above or right here to give it a read! 2022 was a wild ride. We opened our studio just in the summer and we blink and it was winter! And a new year on the horizon.
We learned recently most of the other shops will be leaving the inn, and we're so disheartened by that. But hopeful too. For our neighbors whose businesses we will continue to support and follow wherever they go, and for the potential to continue to grow our eclectic community. And of course love and support to the neighbors that remain! It was a lean year. And hard for everyone. Hopefully next year will be brighter, easier, full of opportunity, love and joy. We have lots of plans for 2023. Especially for growing in and for our art community. Supporting the amazing artists lurking here in the HD. Happy New Year, from Brianna, Kamren, Jacob and Carissa.
